Cheesy bread rolls

A simple little side to the salads posted yesterday. 🙂

IMG_20150224_210253When making bread rolls, they are of course best fresh from the oven. The following day or so, they may not be as attractive to eat. I often try to look for ways to save the leftovers and be able to use them, rather than having them go to waste.



This is an easy and delicious little side dish for a a salad, soup or pie, or just as a little snack by itself.
It is a great way to use day old rolls that may else have been thrown out.


Day old rolls
Good butter
Cheddar or other finely grated cheese for topping.

Cut a checkered pattern on the top of the rolls. Stick some strips of butter into the rolls and sprinkle cheese on top. Cook in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes. Turn on the grill element and continue to cook for another 5 minutes to crispen on top.

You can add more flavor by using spiced butter or garlic butter instead of normal butter. Or even better, sprinkle some fresh herbs on top after they are finished cooking.
